Blood on your toothbrush? See
your dentist and check the obvious things. Are you brushing your
teeth properly? Are you flossing regularly? In later years, more teeth are lost due to weakened gums than to actual tooth decay. So if you want to keep your teeth into ripe old age, start treating your gums properly now.
Try any of the following to help disinfect, tone, firm and strengthen your gums.
Strengthen Your Gums Naturally
Tincture of Propolis.
Add a few drops to an inch or so of warm water and swish it around your
mouth and teeth, holding it in your mouth for as long as possible
before spitting it out.
Hot Red Sage Tea. This is the common Sage that you may have on
your windowsill. If not, you can probably buy a big packet - or
even better, a fresh plant of it - from your local supermarket.
And failing all else, use dried Sage from your spicerack. Take a
teaspoonful of the dried leaves or 3 or 4 fresh leaves and steep,
covered, in a cupful of boiling water for 10 minutes.
Strain. Use as a mouthwash, swishing it in and around your teeth
for as long as possible: Sage is powerfully antiseptic.
Tincture Of Myrrh.
Astringent and antiseptic. Put 5 or 6 drops in a small glass of
warm water, and use as a mouthwash in the same way as Tincture of
Propolis, above.
