Certain
kinds of muscular ache - the dull ache in the small of the back
known as lumbago, for instance - call for treatment by an osteopath, as
do all forms of sciatica. But odd aches and pains in the muscles
- caused by sporting exertions, a pulled muscle, over use of one set of
muscles, and too much bending and stooping while gardening - can often
be cleared away by massage with the essential oil of one of a number or
aromatic plants, or several in combination. These stimulate the
local circulation, warm and relax the muscles. Acupressure can also be
effective.
You can make up your own massage oil by adding 3 or 4 drops of any of the following to a tablespoon of carrier oil: Lavender, Marjoram, Rosemary or Chamomile. To enhance their warming, analgesic effect, warm the oil before you soothe it in. Also see the Arnica page for an additional rubbing oil recipe.

Acupressure For Muscle Aches:
Acupressure is an alternative to acupuncture
that does not involve needles. There are many acupressure points
on the body when, properly stimulated, can alleviate the pain
associated with muscle aches. See the following pages for more
